eEye Enters into Contract to Start Common Criteria Certification Process for its Enterprise Vulnerability Management Offering

(ALISO VIEJO, CA) March 18, 2004 — eEye Digital Security, a leading developer of network security software solutions, announced today that it has formally entered into an agreement with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to start Common Criteria evaluation of eEye’s Retina® Enterprise Suite. This rigorous testing process, which is based on one of the industry’s most stringent IT security standards, will demonstrate the product’s integrity in rooting out network vulnerabilities and will validate eEye’s conformity with the National Information Assurance Acquisition Policy (NIAP) and the National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Policy (NSTISSP). By entering into this process eEye enforces its commitment that our products meet the industries strictest security guidelines.

Retina Enterprise Suite includes Retina®, the industry’s leading network vulnerability scanner, and the REM™ Management Console. Using advanced vulnerability and detection capabilities, Retina can scan every machine on a network – including a variety of operating system platforms, network devices, databases and third-party or custom applications – and delivers a comprehensive report that details all vulnerabilities and their appropriate corrective actions and fixes. REM provides enterprises with a powerful security management system that administers the workflow process across a dispersed network and is ideal for large organizations with complex system architectures. Together, this fully integrated solution enables the efficient assessment, aggregation and reporting of network security events.

"eEye is committed to delivering software that meets the government's highest security criteria," said Firas Raouf, chief operating officer at eEye Digital Security. "eEye customers throughout the government depend on our software to protect their highly critical networks and defeat security threats before they have opportunity to take root. This certification will serve as another key proof point that regardless of an organizations’ security needs, eEye can provide them with a vulnerability management and regulatory compliant solution that meets strict international security requirements"

SAIC’s Common Criteria Testing Laboratory (CCTL) is among the first commercial labs to be accredited by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program to operate within the National Information Assurance Partnership’s Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS). SAIC applies its expertise to assist developers in achieving successful Common Criteria evaluations as efficiently as possible while adhering to the NIAP's CCEVS.

Fifteen countries now recognize the Common Criteria (also known as ISO international standard 15408) as the official third-party evaluation criteria for IT security procedures. Within the U.S., several government and civilian agencies, including the Department of Defense, are requiring new products to be tested against the Common Criteria in accordance with the NIAP – NSTISSP No. 11 (NSTISSP-1).
