eEye Digital Security Extends Vulnerability Management Offering

REM™2.0 Delivers a Unified Management Console that Lowers Threat Mitigation Costs

(ALISO VIEJO, CA) March 22, 2004 — eEye® Digital Security, a leading developer of network security software solutions, today announced the release of the REM™ 2.0 Security Management Platform. REM 2.0 enables organizations to proactively address network security threats, enforce security policies and automate remediation activities, all from a secure, web-based management console. As a result, REM 2.0 gives enterprise security managers a comprehensive view of all security events across a company’s distributed network as well as the means to automatically address security threats as they are identified.

REM 2.0 is a key component of eEye’s expanded Retina Enterprise Suite, which now includes Retina®, the industry’s leading network vulnerability scanner, Retina Remediation Manager, a complete patch and configuration automation solution, and the REM™ Security Management Platform. This fully integrated solution enables the efficient assessment, aggregation, reporting, and remediation management of network security events.

"With REM 2.0, we can now consolidate and view enterprise-wide vulnerability information in a single console. This allows our team to focus resources on the most critical vulnerabilities that affect the security of our operations," said Andre Gold, director of information security at Continental Airlines. "The eEye solution supports our overall security strategy through seamless integration into our existing network infrastructure, thus enhancing operational efficiency."

The rate at which vulnerabilities are being leveraged into debilitating and costly attacks demands that enterprises take a proactive approach to discovering, analyzing, prioritizing and remediating security threats throughout the entire organization. With the introduction of REM 2.0, enterprise security managers will, for the first time, have a complete view of the entire network, regardless of OS, application or network architecture, thus saving valuable IT resources while ensuring that the enterprise network is completely secure. Moreover, REM’s open architecture allows organizations to leverage existing IT solutions, such as call center, help desk or framework applications to bridge the gap between security and IT operations.

The REM 2.0 Security Management Platform includes enhanced reporting, improved performance capabilities and a new interface that provides executive dashboard summary reports to quickly communicate an organizations overall network security posture, including vulnerability counts, severity levels and status aging. REM 2.0 also offers agent-management capabilities that extend policy settings and scanning capabilities (available to clients who are currently using Retina). All of these new capabilities are supported by increased client scalability to support thousands of simultaneous client connections per server, as well as improved database scalability.

“With the increasing and overwhelming number of network vulnerabilities, it is imperative that companies be proactive in maintaining a secure computing environment,” said Firas Raouf, chief operating officer at eEye Digital Security. “REM 2.0 offers a unified workflow umbrella under which IT and security groups can work together effectively to achieve the highest levels of security.”
