Network Security Software Leader eEye Announces Retina 5.2 with Advanced Audits for Linux, UNIX and More

Automatic update provides customers with a more detailed analysis of Linux and other non-Windows devices

(ALISO VIEJO, CA) March 2, 2005 — eEye Digital Security®, a leading network security software company enabling businesses to protect and manage their network infrastructure, today announced the latest version of its industry-leading Retina Network Security Scanner – Retina 5.2. Available as a standalone solution or as part of the Retina Enterprise Suite, Retina 5.2 is one of the first in the industry to provide security and IT professionals with a more in-depth view of the Linux, UNIX and other non-Windows devices on their network. As a result, Retina 5.2 gives organizations more visibility to act on, report on and manage security vulnerabilities within their networks. By allowing companies to secure their networks more effectively, this enhanced version of Retina ensures business continuity while also guaranteeing all devices on the network comply with both internal and external security policies.

"Most businesses incorporate devices that don’t run Windows, such as routers, Linux and UNIX-based servers," said Firas Raouf, COO at eEye Digital Security. "Until now, these businesses have struggled to get a detailed security assessment of all of the assets across their environment – above and beyond Windows-based devices. Retina 5.2 delivers the same industry-leading accuracy as its predecessor and enables organizations to secure more of their assets, providing true cross-platform vulnerability management."

With Retina 5.2, the auditing of non-Windows devices has been augmented to include SSH tunneling to perform local vulnerability assessment of Linux, UNIX, Cisco and other non-Windows devices. This enhanced auditing functionality allows security professionals to get a deeper view of their routers, edge appliances, servers and other systems by identifying vulnerabilities that require local file or setting checks. For example, network security professionals can create custom audits to check for approved settings on Cisco routers, thus ensuring they comply with corporate security policies.

As part of eEye's Retina maintenance, customers automatically receive the latest version of the scanner via the eEye Auto Updater. The eEye Auto Updater allows for either automatic or manual updates of their Retina scanner to fit within a client's specific implementation settings. Customers are also able to download and review additional information on Retina 5.2 on the eEye Client Extranet: http://www.eeye.com/clients
