eEye Digital Security's Co-Founder and CTO Marc Maiffret to Discuss Attack Methods in his "It's More Than a Microsoft World" Presentation.
(ALISO VIEJO, CA) October 5, 2006 eEye Digital Security®, the leading developer of endpoint security and vulnerability management software solutions, as well as the industry's foremost contributor to security research and education, today announced that Marc Maiffret, eEye's co-founder, CTO and chief hacking officer, will speak at this year’s Government Technology Exhibition Conference (GTEC), to be held October 23-25 at the Ottawa Congress Centre in Ottawa, Canada. Maiffret's presentation, entitled "It's More Than a Microsoft World," will detail the current trend of hackers targeting desktop applications rather than the Microsoft OS.
His discussion will take place Tuesday, October 24 from 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. (ET) in the Confederation I Ballroom. Maiffret will discuss why, after years of laser-like focus on the Microsoft OS, attackers have increasingly begun to target flaws in software applications from vendors such as Apple, Symantec, IBM and McAfee. Maiffret will also explain the evolution of attack vectors and their impact on the nature of enterprise security, the challenge facing software vendors and the overall results this cycle of events has on network security professionals today.
Now in its 14th year, GTEC has become Canada's leading networking event for IT professionals in the public sector. This year, GTEC will be showcasing leading-edge technologies that are driving online government solutions across Canada and around the world. The theme of the conference is "Enterprise Transition: Moving to Shared Services." For more information, please visit http://www.gtecweek.com.
